As we enter 2026, we are confronted by the same urgent question across the world: how do we prepare young people for a world that is still forming – a world influenced by rapid shifts in technological and economic realities and profound social transformation?
Here in the UAE, we are privileged to be guided by a leadership whose vision places human development at the very centre of national progress. Their unwavering ambition to stay ahead of global change and to build a world-class environment for innovation, talent and opportunity has created a nation where education can thrive as a national force. It is this forward-looking leadership that enables institutions like GEMS Education to contribute meaningfully to the country’s next chapter and to prepare young people for a world still taking shape.
For more than 60 years, GEMS Education has held fast to one belief: When you educate a child, you shape a society. Today, that belief has grown into one of the most comprehensive education and talent ecosystems in the world. It is a continuum that stretches from early learning to university pathways, industry partnerships, leadership development, entrepreneurship programmes and community engagement. We recognise that education today must extend far beyond scale or reputation.
The true measure of an education system lies not in the size of its network, but in the depth of the experience it offers every student: the values it instils, the opportunities it unlocks, and the future it prepares them to lead. It is about giving every child — regardless of background, nationality or circumstance — the confidence, the mindset and the moral foundation to thrive in a rapidly transforming world.
The UAE is witnessing a rapid growth across artificial intelligence, climate technology, advanced manufacturing, medical innovation and sustainable urban development. Young people must be fluent in lifelong learning, problem-solving and emotional awareness. Schools created for the needs of yesterday cannot prepare students for the world of tomorrow.
Therefore, the goal of 2025 at GEMS was to become a future-ready talent engine. The launch of the School of Research and Innovation marked a new chapter. We set out to launch a school designed not only to teach knowledge, but to generate it. Built on inquiry, discovery and deep engagement with industry, it reflects how education must evolve for nations to remain competitive.
In 2026, this model will extend across our network. Technology is now embedded intentionally – not as decoration, but as a means for students to research deeply, collaborate widely, create boldly and present confidently.
But technology alone is not enough for tomorrow’s leaders. We must invest in ‘teachers as innovators’. At GEMS, we are investing significantly in continuous professional development by equipping our educators with the tools, methods and evidence-based practices needed to guide inquiry-driven classrooms and nurture creative, compassionate thinkers.
Respect, integrity, humility and compassion will continue to define strong societies and strong leaders. The labour markets of the future will reward people who combine technical knowledge with emotional and social depth.
This is where the mission of GEMS Education finds its greatest purpose. We aim to raise young people who embrace ambition and innovation but also understand that leadership begins with service. The family and community together are the first classroom and the first source of identity. Strong collaboration between homes and schools creates children who thrive academically, emotionally and socially. As the country builds its future workforce, the partnership between families and educators will remain an essential national asset.
At GEMS Education, our promise is simple and unwavering. We will continue to build an ecosystem that prepares every learner for the future of work and the future of leadership – a future shaped by innovation, anchored in values and strengthened by families and guided by purpose.
