The year 2025 highlighted the Middle East’s growing confidence and maturity as a global financial hub. Even amid a shifting international landscape, the region demonstrated strength, stability and purpose driven by disciplined fiscal policy, dynamic private-sector growth and a clear focus on diversification. Within this broader momentum, the UAE once again proved to be a standout performer.

Non-oil sectors delivered strong momentum, supported by trade, manufacturing and technology-led activity. Investment continued to flow into sustainable infrastructure, fintech and advanced industries, reinforcing the country’s position as a bridge connecting Asia, Africa and Europe. The success of these sectors reflected not only sound economic management but also the agility of a market that continues to evolve ahead of global trends.

In the financial sector, 2025 was a year of transformation. Institutions maintained solid capital and liquidity while embracing technology at scale. Artificial intelligence, data analytics and cloud-based systems have moved from experimentation to everyday application, improving efficiency and deepening client relationships. These advances have built a stronger, more resilient foundation for growth in 2026 and beyond.

This period of progress extended to the region’s wealth ecosystem. Family offices and private investors continued to diversify globally, while next-generation decision-makers placed greater emphasis on stewardship and long-term value creation. Supporting the UAE’s ambition to strengthen its position as an international centre for wealth, global institutions such as Standard Chartered further broadened the wealth landscape and increased the UAE’s appeal as a global wealth hub. Key developments during the year included the launch of a dedicated Priority Private Centre in the UAE, enhancements to the Global Indian proposition and the hosting of the Global Families Network Forum, which welcomed to the UAE more than 90 UHNW families from 30 markets across the world. Together, these initiatives contributed to a more sophisticated platform for cross-border wealth planning and reinforced the UAE’s position as a preferred base for globally mobile investors and family offices.

Technology will play an even greater role in shaping the financial landscape ahead. Tokenisation and regulated digital-asset markets are moving from concept to reality, enabling the digital representation of real-world assets such as bonds, funds and trade-finance instruments. These innovations promise faster settlement, greater transparency and broader market participation. With the UAE and the wider GCC advancing clear regulatory frameworks, tokenised finance is set to become an integral part of the region’s capital-market infrastructure, enhancing efficiency and connecting capital with opportunity across corridors.

Sustainability will also remain at the heart of the growth agenda. The momentum behind the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 commitment and the GCC’s broader transition strategies is translating into tangible investment. Demand for green and sustainability-linked financing continues to expand, supported by enhanced disclosure standards and rising investor interest. The intersection of sustainability and technology, from blockchain-based carbon tracking to tokenised green bonds, is opening new pathways to deliver measurable, inclusive impact.

Wealth is also set to remain a defining theme in the year ahead. The continued rise of family offices, increasing affluence and deeper cross-border connectivity will drive demand for holistic advisory, succession planning and multi-jurisdictional investment capabilities, reinforcing the UAE’s role as a destination for internationally mobile wealth.

Taken together, these dynamics position the Middle East in general and the UAE specifically for a year of confident progress. The foundations laid over the past decade, including diversification, digital acceleration and a sustained commitment to sustainability. are converging to create a more integrated and future-ready financial ecosystem.
