At Space42, the past year was one of transformation, as we marked our first anniversary following the merger of Bayanat and Yahsat in October 2024. We have since built upon a combined 66-year legacy of both companies and their subsidiaries to establish a global presence of our own.
As we look ahead, we reflect on a trajectory underpinned by our four strategic pillars. They include serving as the preferred partner for premium geospatial data, leading globally in geospatial intelligence AI platform and services, advancing our position as a global non-terrestrial connectivity leader, and strengthening our role as a trusted provider of secure connectivity.
The launch of our Thuraya-4 satellite is one of the most significant achievements of our first year, rooted in our strategy to become a global non-terrestrial network leader. Amongst the largest and most advanced mobile communications satellites in orbit, it highlights our technical capability and is a long-term investment in the future of global connectivity.
With Thuraya-4 now fully operational and our 16 new next-generation connectivity products available across international markets, we have strengthened reliability, expanded our geographic reach, and created new commercial pathways across mobility, maritime, enterprise, and government segments.
Our momentum continued with the establishment of Equatys, our venture with Viasat, which intends to enable global direct-to-device connectivity at scale. Equatys will bridge satellite and terrestrial networks to provide a reliable, secure, and universal layer of connectivity for everyday devices. An MoU signed with e& UAE, as one of our initial partners to the initiative, further strengthened our vision.
Our commitment to sovereign capability is further reflected in the rapid expansion of Foresight, our constellation of Earth observation satellites. Foresight delivers high-resolution, all-weather, day-and-night imaging and positions us as the preferred partner for premium geospatial data. Integrated with our AI platform GIQ, the constellation transforms raw imagery into decision-grade geospatial intelligence that supports governments, industries, and partners in areas such as disaster response, maritime domain awareness, infrastructure resilience, and urban mobility.
This year, we launched four Foresight satellites into orbit, three of which were the first to be integrated and tested in the UAE at our facility in Abu Dhabi. This established national progress in advanced space manufacturing and strengthened the UAE’s contribution to Earth Observation and geospatial intelligence.
We also expanded our international presence through Map Africa, one of the most ambitious geospatial initiatives across the world. Developed in partnership with Esri and Microsoft, delivering on our strategy to lead in geospatial intelligence AI platform and services globally, the programme brings together space-based intelligence, AI-enabled mapping, and cloud-scale infrastructure to create the most accurate maps of the African continent. Map Africa addresses long-standing barriers to growth: outdated land records, costly and delayed infrastructure deployment, limited visibility across utility networks, and the lack of integrated data to guide national planning.
We also launched the UAE’s first sovereign mobility cloud in partnership with Microsoft and Core42 to accelerate the deployment of smart mobility solutions. In addition, we are working with entities such as the Department of Municipalities and Transport Abu Dhabi, Dynamic Map Platform, and General Motors on advanced mapping solutions, and have established a joint venture with Autonomous A2Z to scale the deployment of Level-4 autonomous vehicles.
As we enter 2026, our focus is clear: deepen global collaboration, expand the capabilities we have established, and advance technologies that will define the next chapter of growth.
