At a time when access, innovation and resilience are redefining global healthcare, Arcera Life Sciences was created to bridge what science makes possible with what patients can receive.
At the end of 2023, Arcera began its journey as a unified life sciences company shaped by Abu Dhabi’s ambition to build a stronger and more resilient healthcare ecosystem for the region and beyond. The UAE, guided by its We the UAE 2031 strategy, had already established a foundation rooted in science, innovation, and world-class healthcare infrastructure.
Arcera was created by ADQ to carry that momentum forward by bringing together complementary acquisitions: Acino (Switzerland) with its international footprint, including M8 Pharmaceuticals in Latin America, Birgi Mefar Group (Türkiye), and Amoun Pharmaceutical Company (Egypt). Together, these businesses formed a single platform designed to enable longer and healthier lives through sustainable growth.
It was the start of something meaningful, with the potential to influence the next frontier of life sciences regionally and internationally. We knew early that uniting these companies was only the beginning. What mattered most was aligning around shared goals, how we operate, how we lead, and how we deliver value to patients together.
This conviction led to the launch of One Arcera in December 2024, a new operating model that brings the entire organisation together. As part of this reshaping, commercial, medical, and regulatory activities were unified under Arcera General Medicines (GenMed), while manufacturing, quality, and supply capabilities were integrated into Arcera TechOps. Arcera Core Functions, which include M&A and Business Development, centralised shared capabilities from our headquarters in Abu Dhabi. This structure enables clarity, consistency and shared responsibility across our global organisation.
As we close 2025 and mark the first anniversary of One Arcera, I am proud of the foundation we have built and the potential ahead. Today, Arcera develops, manufactures, partners on, and commercialises more than 2,200 medicines across 120 markets.
Our more than 6,000 colleagues are central to this impact. Over the past year, I have visited many of our teams across our markets and consistently saw a strong sense of ownership and belief in our mission.
That shared commitment is reflected in our progress. We advanced launch readiness for an advanced therapy that addresses the rising resistance to standard antibiotics in the GCC and beyond. We also secured the exclusive rights to commercialise an early-stage Alzheimer’s novel treatment across various locations worldwide, including the Middle East. These are just two examples of how our innovation strategy focuses on translating advanced science into real-world access at scale.
In parallel, we invested in capabilities that will shape Arcera’s long-term trajectory. The work across digital, data, and AI is changing the way we operate, bringing greater speed, visibility, and scientific depth to our organisation. These advancements are essential as the pace of global healthcare innovation accelerates.
As we enter our second year fully integrated, our priorities are clear. We will continue building a life sciences company that scales sustainably, deepens innovation, and strengthens partnerships. Arcera is proud to be one of the platforms through which Abu Dhabi is building a global competitive life sciences sector. Above all, we remain anchored to the needs of patients and healthcare professionals whose trust we work hard to earn every day.
Arcera is still early in its journey, but the direction is clear. We are building on our momentum to create lasting impact. Arcera is being built not just to grow, but to endure as a global life sciences enterprise rooted in Abu Dhabi and relevant to the world.
