Ram Buxani In 1959, when Buxani set sail from Bombay to Dubai, he did so with 5 rupees in his pocket. Employed as an office assistant in a small trading firm in Dubai, he began at a salary of 125 rupees per month. Three years later, he was offered either a salary raise to 400 rupees, or a hike to 300 rupees along with a profit share in the company. He chose the latter and eventually became the prime shareholder in the company, that later diversified into consumer electronics, telecoms, manufacturing and retail. The ITL Cosmos chairman is also active in the community and has published his autobiography, Taking the High Road.
