Top Ten Salaries in Bahrain

Bahrain witnessed major salary hikes in 2012 owing to the difficulty of recruiting amid the unrest.

1. Sales/ Marketing – On average, the head of sales/marketing at a multinational or local company takes home around $10,714 per month, up more than 12 per cent from last year’s wage of $9,539 per month.

2. Banking – Banking sector salaries in Bahrain have remained fairly stable compared to 2011. The average salaries earned by a branch manager, a treasury manager and a retail/personal banking manager in the country, currently amount to $10,344.8 per month, compared to $10,044 per month last year.

3. Construction– A construction project manager or a chief engineer pockets roughly $9680 per month, around 2.5 per cent lower than the $9,938 per month he/she was making last year.

4. Human Resources– An HR manager in Bahrain makes much less than his UAE counterpart, earning around $9,427 per month. The amount marks a small decrease from $9,673 per month in 2011.

5. Information Technology – As per our survey, an IT head in Bahrain earns approximately $9202 per month, 6.5 per cent higher than $8,633 per month last year.

6. Real Estate – Bahrain’s real estate managers have also seen a salary hike from $8,254 per month in 2011 to around $9,041 per month this year.

7. Public Relations – The top earners within the media segment, PR directors have witnessed a 27.6 per cent increase in their monthly wages, from $6948 last year to approximately $8866.3 in 2012.

8. Advertising – An advertising creative director in Bahrain received a monthly income of approximately $8576, up from $7,667 last year.

9. Hospitality – Bahrain’s hotel managers have not seen much change in their salaries, and currently take home around $7701.6 per month compared to $7,547 per month in 2011.

10. Publishing – At the bottom of the list, a publishing editor currently makes 28 per cent more than he was earning in 2011, with a monthly wage of around $6,487 per month.

Gulf Business calculated the average salary across the region for Western, Asian and Arab expats across different sectors in the six GCC countries, according to data from BAC Middle East, Bayt.com, Charterhouse Partnership, Morgan McKinley and Nadia
