Benjelloun launched the lender as an expansion of the insurance company he bought in the 1980s. In June 2019, British development finance agency CDC Group acquired a stake of nearly 5 per cent in the lender after a $200m capital injection to help the bank expand across Africa. Benjelloun, who has a net worth of $1.3bn, according to Forbes, is also the president of holding group FinanceCom.
