Saudi coalition forces shot down an armed drone attack launched from Yemen early on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The bomb-laden UAV launched “systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects” in the southern Saudi city of Najran, said Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman of the coalition.

The drone was intercepted and shot down.

The kingdom’s southern region also faced another attack on Saturday, which was also intercepted by Saudi defense forces.

In a statement on Saturday, the GCC secretary general for Arab states, Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, condemned the Houthi militias for the “ongoing continuation in committing terrorist acts systemically and deliberately by targeting civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia”, SPA reported.

He emphasised that these “repeated, systematic and deliberate attacks” confirm the “intentions of the militias and their supporters and their preference for war options” and their unwillingness in putting an end to the Yemeni crisis.

Al-Hajraf also stressed that such acts also target the security and stability of the entire Gulf region.

He called on the international community to “stand firmly against Houthi militias in their continuous attempts to destabilise security and peace in the region”, the report added.
