From breaking ground in 2019 to becoming a vibrant and inclusive community, Sharjah Sustainable City — the first sustainable master-planned residential community developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in partnership with Diamond Developers — has evolved into one of the most preferred residential developments in Sharjah and the UAE.

Spanning an area of 7.2 million square feet in the Al Rahmaniya area of Sharjah, consisting of 1,250 villas across four phases, the city is powered with renewable energy and aspires to achieve Net Zero Energy. The city acknowledges the need to protect the environment and create a better future for generations to come. That’s why we have integrated advanced technologies and launched a wide range of initiatives and best practices that reduce our ecological footprint while promoting social well-being.

This inspiring development contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by focusing on sustainability, renewable energy, and eco-friendly living. We optimise resource use by treating 100 per cent of wastewater for landscape irrigation and maximise recycling to divert waste from landfills.

Our award-winning city is now home to over 600 households from diverse cultures and countries, each of which has embraced the common goal of sustainable living and continues to inspire others.

The year 2024 was marked by several significant milestones, one of which was achieving full sales. The city is now sold out, with total sales reaching around Dhs2.5bn, reflecting the growing demand for sustainable living solutions in Sharjah. This achievement underscores the success of efforts led by our visionary leadership in the UAE and Sharjah, where sustainability remains a core focus. The commitment to sustainability is evident in the numerous initiatives undertaken, including the designation of 2023 and 2024 as Years of Sustainability.

We also welcomed more families and individuals with the handover of Phase 3 of the city, setting the stage for the final phase of construction and bringing the vision of a sustainable master-planned community closer to reality.

As the city grows, we aim to complete the handover of the final phase in 2025, which will allow us to implement more programs and initiatives for our existing and incoming residents.

As construction concludes, we will be doubling our focus on improving community life and making our city even more rewarding for residents of all ages. We will continue to prioritize community well-being, including expanding the operations of our biodomes with vertical farms to provide fresh, chemical-free, locally grown produce for the entire community.

We also expand our urban farming facilities by scaling up more areas within the city, making them accessible and convenient for residents across all phases.

Overall, our goal remains to nurture our residents to become ambassadors of positive change and contribute to a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.
