Abdulla Al Moosa, our chairman believed in Dubai’s vision of being a world-class city and aligned our business ethos with this great nation’s vision.

Under his leadership, we committed to creating solutions that supported UAE’s growth and also set benchmarks for innovation and service excellence across all our business verticals.

This commitment has been particularly evident in our car rental division. Established in 1989 as part of A.A. Al Moosa Enterprises, it was a pioneering move that introduced car rental services setting new industry standards in the UAE and the region.

Over the decades, with Dollar and Thrifty, we have evolved alongside the nation, adapting to rapid development while upholding our values of quality, transparency, and trust.

The UAE’s car rental industry has grown in lockstep with the country’s ambitions, transforming from a mere convenience into a critical enabler of economic activity.

Today, it supports tourism, facilitates business, and provides mobility solutions for a population increasingly prioritising flexibility and accessibility over ownership.

This shift mirrors global trends, where the rise of the shared economy and technological advancements redefine how people view transportation.

At Dollar and Thrifty, we understand that leadership in this dynamic industry means anticipating change and driving it.

Despite global economic headwinds in 2024, we achieved extraordinary milestones that reaffirmed our position as an industry leader.

Expanding our fleet to over 35,000 vehicles and increasing our footprint to over 80 locations across the UAE weren’t just numbers — they were a testament to our resilience, commitment to innovation, and alignment with consumer needs.

However, these achievements come with their challenges. Consumer expectations today are shaped by technological advancements and a heightened awareness of environmental responsibility. Convenience powered by technology — whether through seamless digital bookings, contactless services, or real-time fleet management — is no longer optional.

Equally, consumers expect brands to align with their values, demanding not just quality service but also a commitment to sustainability.

Recognising this, we have placed sustainability at the core of our operations. From integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into our fleet to implementing environmentally conscious practices, we are reducing our carbon footprint and empowering customers to make greener choices. Sustainability is not a buzzword for us — it’s a responsibility to future generations.

Economic challenges like inflation have also shifted consumer behaviour, with many opting for smarter, more cost-effective mobility solutions. In response, we have introduced innovative packages that redefine value, delivering premium service at competitive prices. In our view, growth is not just about expansion but about staying connected to our customers’ needs and aspirations.

Looking ahead, the broader question for our industry is how to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. The answer lies in embracing technology, sustainability, and personalisation.

The integration of EVs, smart technologies, and data-driven insights will be instrumental in transforming customer experiences and future-proofing the industry. These innovations are not optional—they are essential to meet the demands of the next generation.

As we enter 2025, we are setting ambitious goals to increase our fleet and topline revenue by 30 per cent. This growth reflects our confidence in the UAE’s dynamic market and our determination to lead its transformation. However, we believe that growth is only meaningful if it contributes to a broader vision — one where the UAE continues to set global benchmarks for sustainable mobility.

Inspired by the UAE’s vision and resilience, we at Dollar and Thrifty are committed to driving forward with purpose.

Together, we will set new benchmarks, innovate tirelessly, and create sustainable mobility solutions that will serve generations to come.
