Mukesh Ambani is India’s wealthiest individual. His net worth is estimated at $112bn, based on the market capitalisation of Reliance Industries on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

His conglomerate spans industries such as petrochemicals, oil and gas, retail, telecoms and more, making it India’s largest private sector enterprise. Reliance’s telecom and broadband network Jio services more than 470 million subscribers in India and counts Meta and Alphabet among its investors.

Additionally, his retail chain has an India-wide network, with more than 12,800 stores.

Ambani, a chemical engineer from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, is also driving Reliance’s focus on clean energy.

The company has chalked out an $80bn strategy over the next decade to pivot to renewable energy, and build a new complex next to its refinery, in his home state of Gujarat.
