DMCC launches AI Centre to drive global AI solutions

DMCC, the Dubai government authority on commodities trade, has launched the DMCC AI Centre to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and practical solutions globally.

The centre will play a key role in supporting the development of real-world AI applications across the MENA region.

The inauguration at DMCC’s Uptown Tower was attended by key figures, including Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), and Dr Marwan Alzarouni, chief AI officer of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

The AI Centre will occupy two floors and integrate DMCC’s other tech-focused platforms, including the DMCC Crypto and Gaming Centres.

The facility will feature high-tech meeting rooms, co-working spaces, and a dedicated AI solutions showroom, enhancing the innovation ecosystem.

Partners such as Builder.ai and AGCC, based within the free zone, will offer access to AI technologies, skills development, accelerator programmes, and market entry strategies.

A series of industry events, including a $100,000 Global AI Challenge at Dubai’s Expand North Star in October, will provide investment opportunities for start-ups focused on AI-driven solutions.

“This AI Centre will attract companies, drive innovation, and reinforce Dubai’s role as a global leader in emerging technologies,” said Belhoul, citing Dubai’s ambition to become a world leader in AI by 2031 through the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman and CEO of DMCC, said AI is expected to add more than $15tn to the global economy by 2030.

“DMCC’s AI Centre will provide businesses, investors, and partners with a world-class ecosystem to access top-tier AI services, benefiting both AI and non-AI companies,” he said.

The initiative is part of Dubai’s broader push to integrate cutting-edge technologies into the global trade landscape, aligning with DMCC’s Future of Trade 2024 report, underscoring AI’s transformative potential in supply chain optimisation, automation, and market analysis.
