Home Technology Artificial Intelligence AWS unveils $50m GenAI Impact Initiative for public sector The initiative aims to help public sector leaders leverage GenAI to optimise resources, adapt to changing needs, personalise education experiences and boost security by Neesha Salian July 3, 2024 Image: Getty Images Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched the AWS Public Sector Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Impact Initiative, a two-year, $50m investment aimed at accelerating innovation in the public sector the company’s AWS generative AI services and infrastructure. The initiative will provide up to $50m in AWS Promotional Credits, training, and technical expertise for generative AI projects. Eligible organisations include new or existing worldwide public sector customers and partners from enterprises worldwide who are developing AI solutions to address critical societal challenges. Benefits of AWS’ GenAI Impact Initiative Key resources and benefits of the initiative include tailored training, expertise from the Generative AI Innovation Center, technical support, networking opportunities, and global thought leadership opportunities. The initiative aims to help public sector leaders leverage generative AI to optimise resources, adapt to changing needs, improve patient care, personalise education experiences, and strengthen security. The Public Sector Generative AI Impact Initiative builds on the company’s focus on enabling safe, secure and responsible AI development. AWS is a contributing partner to the National Science Foundation’s National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) pilot and a member of the US Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium, contributing $5m to develop tools and methodologies for evaluating AI safety. The company also supports the AI for Changemakers Accelerator programme and the Now Go Build CTO Fellowship programme led by Tech To The Rescue.
