Abu Dhabi has increased the workplace attendance at government entities and companies across the emirate to 60 per cent.

The directive, which is effective from May 30, 2021, and is applicable to all employees and outsourced workers, has been approved by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee.

Remote working, however, is permitted for employees above the age of 60, pregnant and nursing women, people of determination, employees with chronic diseases and weak immunity, and parents of children enrolled in distance learning in Grades 10 and below, until the end of the current school term.

The committee also approved compulsory periodic testing for all employees to enter the workplace, the cost of which is to be borne by the individual. Those with vaccination exemption certificates are exempted from bearing the cost.

Unvaccinated employees must test weekly, while those vaccinated must test monthly. Those vaccinated who have active icons (gold star or letter E) on Alhosn app are exempt from these tests.

Earlier this month, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) announced that all exceptions granted to UAE federal government employees, including the permission to work from home due to emergency conditions of Covid-19 pandemic, have been cancelled as of Sunday, May 16.

However, female employees with children enrolled in distance learning will be exempted until the end of the current school year.
