Home Covid-19 Ajman to open free Covid-19 testing centre on July 23 The centre has a testing capacity of over 2,000 people per day by Varun Godinho July 23, 2020 The Ajman Medical Zone will inaugurate a Covid-19 testing centre in “Al Bait Metwahid Hall” on Thursday, July 23. The centre has a testing capacity of over 2,000 people per day and will start receiving citizens and residents after the inauguration, officials have confirmed. This testing service will be provided to all members of the community free of charge, with the test results sent to the phones of the those being tested, news agency WAM reported. Those who test positive for the virus will be monitored by the Ajman Preventive Medicine Centre. The centre’s working hours are from 9am-5pm, and people can register for the tests on the website www.prereg.purehealth.ae. Hamad Tarim Al Shamsi, director of the Ajman Medical Zone, said that the hall was chosen due to its accessible location, and its facilities including spacious parking area and waiting areas which will facilitate the testing of a large number of people who may visit the centre. He added that the tests are part of the precautionary measures aimed at maintaining the safety of workplaces. Other emirates within the UAE have also rolled out free Covid-19 testing measures. Read: Sharjah’s Al Nahda residents can avail of free Covid-19 tests On Tuesday, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, instructed the Ministry of Health and Prevention to conduct free Covid-19 tests for both citizens and residents in Fujairah. Earlier this month, the UAE government said that it has planned to undertake two million Covid-19 tests over the next two months. Consequently, 50,354 have recovered after contracting the virus. It recorded one death over the preceding 24-hour period, scaling the number of fatalities to 342. Due to the high recovery rate, the ministry reported that there are now 7,038 active cases within the country.
