UAE weather alert: heavy showers expected on Tuesday, Wednesday

The skies across the UAE are expected to remain overcast with rain and lightning anticipated over scattered areas on Tuesday, accompanied by a dip in temperatures and rough sea conditions, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

Overcast conditions with chances of rain may spill over to Wednesday, across islands, some coastal and northern areas, NCM tweeted.

The lowest temperature recorded over the country on Tuesday morning was 2.7°C in Jais Mountain at 12am.

The UAE recorded its highest amount of rainfall in 24 years, NCM said on Sunday, January 12, following two days of heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Due to heavy showers, an African maid in Ras Al Khaimah died when the wall collapsed on her on Saturday.

The NCM advised motorists to exercise caution while driving during rainfall, and to steer clear of areas of flash floods, accumulated water and poor visibility.
