Sheikh Khalifa pardons 662 prisoners ahead of UAE’s National Day

Sheikh Khalifa has also promised to settle the financial dues of the pardoned prisoners

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has pardoned 662 prisoners and issued their release ahead of the country’s 48th National Day, official news agency WAM reported.

Sheikh Khalifa has also promised to settle the financial dues of the pardoned prisoners, who were serving different sentences.

The pardon is aimed at giving prisoners a chance to start afresh and offer relief to their families, the report said.

The UAE will celebrate its 48th National Day on December 2. The UAE government has announced that December 1- 3 will be marked as public holidays for Commemoration Day and National Day.

Earlier this year, Sheikh Khalifa had pardoned and issued the release of 669 prisoners on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
