The First Group provided further details about the completion benchmarks of the property. It said that work on the structure is now 99 per cent complete, with the the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), first and second fix work now 80 per cent complete in the building’s basement, podium floors, and storey levels. The installation of building façade brackets is reportedly complete up to the 72nd floor, and the curtain wall installation has reached the 70th floor. At present, the convey system installation has reached 53 per cent completion, while the fixation of the steel trusses in the atrium has been completed. The tiling work has reached 66 per cent completion, and the installation of wall partitions and plastering is 97 per cent complete. The First Group’s architectural partner, NORR, has designed the hotel’s key features including its observation deck with views of Dubai’s skyline, the Palm Jumeirah, and Arabian Gulf on the 81st floor and a rooftop infinity pool and bar that will be located on the 76th floor. Another noteworthy feature of Ciel will be its 300m tall interior atrium that will feature vertically stacked landscaped and naturally ventilated terraces. “We are thrilled to bring Ciel to Dubai’s skyline, a ground-breaking project that will redefine upscale hospitality and showcase the best of what the city has to offer. Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we are making great progress and firmly on track to open the property officially in 2024,” said Rob Burns, CEO of The First Group.
