From the world-famous Burj Khalifa to the secluded hill ranges in Hatta, here are the best places to be when the Dubai sky lights up at midnight. Burj Khalifa: Head to Dubai Mall to watch The Dubai Fountain’s spectacular light and water show as it builds up to a grand finale at midnight. Tickets have been sold out but you can book a table at one of the many restaurants in Downtown Dubai, including Souk Al Bahar or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard for the closest, most unobstructed view of the tower. If you’re celebrating as a family, consider spending the evening at Burj Park, located on a small island out on Burj Lake with clear views of the fountain shows. 2. Palm Jumeirah The iconic Palm Jumeirah is home to the Atlantis, The Palm and is one of the best venues to catch the New Year’s eve pyrotechnics. The Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk nearby offers multiple vantage points for visitors to watch the fireworks displays light up the sky, or you can dine at any one of the waterside restaurants at The Pointe, which is also home to the world’s largest fountain. 3. Burj Al Arab The Burj Al Arab fireworks display is a spectacular show that lights up the sky over the world’s only 7-star hotel. The Burj Al Arab fireworks show can be viewed from various vantage points such as the Kite beach or Umm Sequeim beach, if you are looking for a free venue to see the display. Additionally, Madinat Jumeirah also offers a great view of the show and can be visited free of cost. 4. Hatta The picturesque locale of Hatta has announced a memorable fireworks show for New Year’s eve. Just before midnight on Sunday, December 31, the giant Hatta sign will sparkle and shine under the light of the pyrotechnics. 5. Dubai Parks and Resorts’ Riverland Dubai’s DET has revealed that Dubai Parks and Resorts’ Riverland will have two laser show and fireworks displays earlier in the evening to ensure children do not miss out on the late night fireworks. Two shows scheduled for 7pm and 9pm will light up the evening sky over Riverland. 6. Bluewaters When the clock strikes 12 and a new year begins, all eyes will be on Bluewaters Island as it erupts into a kaleidoscope of colour. The three-minute show will complement The Beach at JBR’s firework display, giving people in the area double the awe and amazement at midnight on New Year’s Eve. 7. The Beach Located just opposite Jumeirah Beach Residences in Dubai Marina, The Beach is a sunny shoreside resort for all and the site of the city’s most vibrant fireworks displays. Spend New Year’s Eve on the sand or book a table at one of the hotspot’s restaurants like Catch22 or any of the six dining venues at Pavilion at The Beach before colourful fireworks light up the night sky. Alternatively, see the show from across the water aboard a marine taxi, which you can catch from Marina Mall Station. 8. Global Village Global Village will welcome the new year not once, but seven times in a single night. The festivities will commence at 8pm local time on the main stage, marking midnight in China. The countdown then moves through Thailand (9pm), Bangladesh (10pm), India (10.30pm), Pakistan (11pm), UAE (12am), and culminating with Turkey at 1am. Each stroke of midnight will be celebrated with its own countdown and a fireworks display.
