US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in UAE to meet President Sheikh Mohamed

The importance of joint action to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East was discussed at the meet

The UAE’s President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received the United States National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan in Abu Dhabi, reported state news agency WAM.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Sullivan at Qasr Al Shati in the capital. The two reportedly discussed the close, strategic ties between the UAE and the US, and expressed their shared interest in further strengthening the relations.

The two sides also discussed regional and international developments and stressed the importance of joint action to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East, reported WAM.

US NSA meets top UAE officials

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and other officials.

The meeting also comes against the backdrop of CENTCOM chief General Erik Kurilla’s visit aboard a guided missile destroyer as it transited the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend.

General Erik Kurilla also visited the UAE and Bahrain, according to a statement by the United States Central Command. The US general met Lt Gen Issa Sayf Mohammed al-Mazrouei, the UAE Armed Forces Chief of Staff, “to discuss the enduring nature of the military-to-military relationship and the need to address threats in the region.”

The US general then travelled to Bahrain, where he met with King Hamid bin Isa Al Khalifa.

US NSA in Saudi Arabia

Sullivan’s visit to the UAE comes just days after his earlier visit to Jeddah to meet Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman. The two had discussed regional and international developments as per Saudi Press Agency.
