Update: Emirates Mars Mission’s Hope Probe to now launch on July 17

The delay is due to the weather conditions at the launch site of Tanegashima Island in Japan

Emirates Mars Mission’ Hope Probe will now lift-off on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 12.43am UAE time (July 16, 2020 at 8.43pm GMT) from the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan.

The UAE Space Agency and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC), in collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, have announced the new launch date for the unmanned probe to Mars.

The delay in the launch of the Hope Probe was owed to the weather conditions at the site of Tanegashima Island in Japan.

The Emirates Mars Mission had recently announced the link for live streaming of the launch.

The unmanned probe will travel 493.5 million km over seven months to reach Mars’ orbit in February 2021.
