Home Industry Technology UAE’s Edge Group introduces new AI-assisted unmanned ground vehicle The new launch is the latest from Edge’s tactical UGV series, which is intended to support security and civil defence forces by Gulf Business February 22, 2022 The UAE-based Edge Group, which ranks among the top 25 military suppliers in the world, has unveiled Scorpio-B, the newest member of its series of unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) – on the first day of UMEX 2022 currently underway at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until February 23. The UGV can be equipped with remote weapon systems, twin 40mm grenade launchers, pan-tilt-zoom cameras and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensors with the possibility to mount various payloads of up to 200kg. #LeadingEDGE introduces new AI-assisted unmanned ground vehicle at #UMEX 2022: https://t.co/yubkXCledy pic.twitter.com/9RbsterUwa — EDGE (@_edgegroup) February 21, 2022 In addition to being used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations, the UGV can also be fitted for tactical overwatch, counter terrorism, communication relay and other missions. With a 30-degree slope gradient, 40kph speed and track propulsion, the UGV can easily access difficult terrains within cities and harsh environments. The all-in-one command and control station allows one or two operators to remotely operate the UGV functions and mission equipment systems up to 5km. Ali Al Yafei, CEO of ADASI, a part of the platforms and systems cluster of Edge Group, said: “We are delighted to unveil the latest member of the Scorpio series at UMEX 2022 – an exhibition dedicated to drones, robotics and unmanned systems, and one of the most important events in our calendar.” At the Dubai Air Show in 2021, Edge launched new additions to its product portfolio of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These included the QX-5 and QX-6, modern vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drones, and Rash 2H, a high-precision guided munition system, which were all designed and manufactured in the UAE.
