UAE reports 401 new Covid-19 cases, 492 recoveries

The new cases were detected following over 50,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus

The UAE government in its daily briefing on the coronavirus outbreak reported on Sunday that it had detected 401 new Covid-19 cases in the country.

These cases were detected following over 50,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) says that as a result of the new cases, the total count of those infected with the virus has risen to 54,854.

However, the ongoing trend of a high recovery rate continues to be the case in the UAE with the ministry reporting 492 new recoveries too on Sunday.

Therefore, 45,140 individuals have now made a full recovery after contracting the virus.

The ministry also reported two new deaths, as a result of complications, and expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased.

The total number of fatalities now stands at 333.

Last week, MoHAP confirmed that it would, in partnership with health institutions in the country, conduct over two million Covid-19 tests over the next two months.

Also earlier this month, in a sign that the virus is being brought increasingly under control, the Dubai Field Hospital, set up within the Dubai World Trade Centre for Covid-19 patients, discharged its last patient on July 7 and also closed the field hospital which was opened on April 17.
