The UAE has achieved strong positions in the latest Travel and Tourism Development Index 2024, issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF), highlighting the country’s infrastructure and services.

The country ranked fifth globally and first among Arab countries in road quality, ninth globally and first among Arab countries in the efficiency of port services, and 10th globally and second among Arab countries in the efficiency of public transport services.

In a report published by state news agency, WAM, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, attributed these results to the forward-looking vision of the UAE’s leadership, emphasising the country’s strategic planning and long-term goals. “These achievements reflect our proactive approach and strategic planning in various sectors and reaffirm the UAE’s ambition to become a globally recognised innovation and excellence hub,” Al Mazrouei said.

He added: “We are committed to developing vibrant sectors and positioning the UAE as a leading destination for business and leisure. Ranking high on global indicators directly contributes to enhancing the confidence of international investors looking for a reliable business environment.”

UAE’s quality infrastructure is attracting investors

Hanan Mansour Ahli, director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, also commented on the report. He said: “The results of the report underscore that the UAE has well-developed infrastructure and adopts the highest standards and best practices across the board. The UAE has become a benchmark for the quality of roads, public transport services, and port services. This will help attract foreign investments and enhance the GDP.”

The report underscores the UAE’s efforts to bolster its infrastructure, making it a competitive and attractive destination for international business and tourism.

Earlier this year, WEF’s 2024 Global Future Opportunities Index also rated the UAE among the leading nations in the global competitiveness races.

The UAE’s results marks its robust and appealing economy, the high level of security and stability it offers, and the quality of life it provides for its citizens and residents.

The country also ranked first globally in 20 indicators of future opportunity readiness.
