Public and private sector companies in the UAE will have the same number of national holidays in the year 2019-2020, it was announced on Tuesday.
The UAE Cabinet has approved a new decree granting the private sector “equal” public holidays for this year.
Traditionally, public sector employees in the country have enjoyed additional days off for certain holidays.
“The decree aims at achieving a balance between the two sectors and supporting the national economy”, the UAE government communications office said on Twitter.
It also outlined all the national holidays for the year 2019-2020. Public and private sector workers will have 14 official holidays this year.
