Eid Al Etihad: Residents to get 4-day weekend for UAE National Day

UAE private and public sector employees will get a four-day long weekend for the UAE’s 53rd National Day.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) said that Monday and Tuesday, December 2 and 3, will be paid holidays for those working in ministries and federal entities. The authority said regular working hours will resume on Wednesday, December 4.

Under a UAE Cabinet resolution, holidays for the public and private sectors will be unified.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) issued a circular stating that private-sector employees will receive paid holidays on Monday and Tuesday, December 2 and 3.

FAHR and MOHRE extended their wishes to the “UAE’s wise leadership, its citizens, and all residents across the nation” on the occasion.

Every December 2nd, the UAE marks Eid Al Etihad, its National Day. The significant date commemorates the formation of the nation in 1971 when six emirates united. Ras Al Khaimah later joined the federation in February 1972, completing the seven emirates that form the UAE today.

The “breathtaking city” of Al Ain will host the official ceremony, gathering the nation’s Rulers and leaders for the momentous occasion.
