The UAE government has announced that public sector workers will work remotely on May 2, due to the unstable weather conditions forecast for May 2.
NCEMA recommends remote work
The notification comes after the country’s disaster management authority raised its alert level and called for remote work for both public and private sector workers along with distance learning for educational institutions.
The disaster management authorities have recommended work-from-home for employees except for those in essential roles.
The NCEMA added that authorities would close down roads in areas such as valleys as well as those prone to water accumulation.
MoHRE recommends flexible work
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) advised private sector companies to apply flexible and remote work patterns tomorrow, on May 2, keeping in mind the health and safety of employees in light of the expected weather conditions.
Weather alert across UAE
The UAE is bracing for challenging weather conditions starting today. Certain parts of the UAE were placed under a yellow alert by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) as the country prepares for unstable weather conditions.
The NCM forecasts moderate to heavy rain accompanied by occasional lightning and thunder later in the night into Thursday, May 2.
The report added that there could be some hail concentrated in western regions, on the coasts, and in some eastern areas.
