The month of Shawwal comes after the holy month of Ramadan, with the first day being the day of Eid. If Eid falls on July 17 then all private sector workers will receive Friday and Saturday as holidays. Meanwhile Eid al-Fitr holidays for UAE federal ministries and authorities will begin from Thursday, July 16 and will last until the third day of the month of Shawwal. The report did not specify when Eid is expected to begin but astronomical calculations made by the Sharjah Planetarium have predicted that Eid-Al-Fitr is likely to fall on Friday July 17. Last year, all employees of federal department and ministries received a nine-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr while private sector workers received a two-day holiday.
