Helú’s foundation said in August that it would fund production of the Astra-Zeneca/Oxford University vaccine in Mexico and Argentina for distribution in Latin America. Mexico’s richest man, worth an estimated $62bn, Helú owns America Movil, the biggest mobile telecom firm in Latin America. He also owns stakes in construction, banking and mining businesses and continues to exert significant power and influence.
