Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the launch of its goIT programme in the UAE.

It aims to demystify computer science and assist students in gaining the skills required to pursue STEM careers.

goIT is an experiential, immersive programme that gives young people access to hands-on technology education and design challenges, a statement said. It teaches students how to use design thinking, digital technology, and agile methodologies to create and prototype ideas that will benefit their communities or help the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The curriculum includes innovation lifecycle, product prototyping, and industry-relevant entrepreneurial skills. In addition, TCS employees will mentor students and provide industry context and real-world connections.

The first such programme was held for grade three students of JSS International School in Dubai.

At the two-day-long event, students had the opportunity to learn from TCS’ technology professionals and flex their IT skills. The company will soon expand this programme to include more schools across the country.

“To be competitive in the digital economy of the future, every community has to invest in developing its human capital and creating a digitally-capable workforce. We have been partnering with local communities for the last 13 years to spark interest in IT and technology among young people,” said Sumanta Roy, regional head, Middle East and Africa, TCS.

goIT is TCS’ student engagement programme that began in 2009. In FY 2021, the programme reached more than 54,000 beneficiaries and expanded to 33 countries.
