Matthew, the editor-at-large of Gulf News, is accused of killing his wife with a hammer in July. The British expatriate will be tried at Dubai Criminal Court on September 27, The National reported. Matthew, 60, called the police to his house on July 3, claiming his wife, Jane Matthew, 62, had been assaulted by burglars at their house. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Reports showed that her death resulted from a strong blow on the head with a hard object, and Francis Matthew later “confessed” to the Dubai Police that he committed the murder because of marital issues, the Dubai Media Office said at the time.
