Saudi Arabia has approved the increase of Saudisation rates in all contract jobs at public firms as well as companies functioning in the operation and maintenance sectors, local daily Saudi Gazette reported.

Localisation may reach up to 100 per cent in some jobs, the report said.

Supervisor jobs in the disciplines of safety, information technology, general services, administration and support services related with all operation and maintenance contract works will witness 100 per cent localisation while rates in operational and vocational jobs have been raised to 70 per cent.

Administrative jobs in electrical, mechanical, equipment, civil, safety, information technology, general services, administration and support services’ sectors will witness 50 per cent Saudisation.

Close to 40 per cent of supervisory jobs in the electrical, mechanical, equipment, and civil sectors will be localised while the Saudisation rate in technical, operational and professional jobs has been increased to 30 per cent.

The ministry of Labour has accorded discretion to government agencies to determine the Saudisation percentages in low-skilled jobs, depending on pertinent localisation opportunities.

Minister of Labour and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi credited the Saudisation drive to creating additional jobs for all Saudi jobseekers.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Labour announced plans to ban expatriates from working in certain hospitality jobs. The decision included hotels considered three-star and above, resorts, as well as hotel apartments rated four-star and above.
