Saudi Arabia’s air defenses destroyed 17 armed drones launched on Saturday by Yemen’s Houthis toward the kingdom’s southern region.

While Khamis Mushait was targeted by one drone attack early in the morning and two drones in the evening, seven drones were launched towards the southern region during the afternoon.

While another drone targeted Najran in the evening, six more were intercepted close to midnight.

The Houthis have been frequently targeting the kingdom with explosive-laden drones in recent weeks.

The UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan condemned the drone attacks on Saturday.

The UAE expressed its strong condemnation of the attempts of Houthi militia to systematically target civilians and civilian objects through armed drones. Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs called upon the international community to take an “immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated actions”.

Kuwait also urged the need for the international community to hold the perpetrators accountable. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its support for all the measures taken by the kingdom to maintain its security and stability.

Bahrain also stressed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to confront “the terrorist acts that target civilian objects”.

Last week, an armed drone launched from Yemen fell on a school in Saudi Arabia’s Asir region. No injuries were reported in the incident.
