Employees in both public and private sectors will have a paid leave next week to mark the anniversary of accession of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik as the country’s ruling monarch. Oman’s three-day long weekend Oman New Agency reported that employees in the private sector establishments will entitled to a one-day holiday or compensation in lieu of leave, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Sultan’s accession to power. At the behest of HM the Sultan, Thursday, 11 January 2024 will be an official holiday for public and private sectors on the occasion of HM the Sultan’s assuming reins of power in the country. — Oman News Agency (@ONA_eng) January 4, 2024 The holiday will set up workers in the country for a three-day long weekend as Oman observes a Sunday-Thursday work week. The Ministry of Labour noted – for emergency and frontline workers unable to take the day off – will be compensated in accordance with regulations in force.
