Oman Air has announced the suspension of flights to and from the Lebanese capital Beirut later this month.

In a short Twitter announcement the carrier said services would be suspended from March 26 for “commercial reasons”.

Oman Air currently flies the Muscat-Beirut route four times a week with a Boeing 737-800. It is the only airline to offer direct flights between the two cities, according to cleartrip.ae

Customers requiring more information were urged to contact the airline.

The announcement did not clarify whether the carrier would resume the service at a later date.

Earlier this week an Oman Air flight to Munich was diverted after a smoke smell was detected onboard.
