Home GCC UAE New mobile Covid-19 testing and vaccination centre opens in Ajman The centre has already begun receiving Emiratis and residents in Ajman, and the 12 mobile units will cover several regions across the emirate by Varun Godinho March 23, 2021 A new mobile Covid-19 testing and vaccination medical centre has opened in Ajman. The volunteer-run facility includes 12 mobile units, and is being operated under the supervision of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), represented by medical authorities in Ajman, in collaboration with the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak volunteering programme. Major General Shaikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police said that the units will provide “mobile and rapid solutions for early diagnosis and vaccinations” in several regions across Ajman. Hamad Tarim Al Shamsi, director of the Ajman Medical Zone, said on Monday that the centre had already begun receiving all Emiratis and residents in Ajman, adding that the medical volunteer team had already exceeded a thousand. Earlier this month, officials in Dubai confirmed that it had set up mobile Covid-19 vaccination units to meet its objective of vaccinating 100 per cent of eligible adults by the end of this year. Read: Video: Dubai introduces mobile Covid-19 vaccination units Starting earlier this week, the UAE lifted restrictions on the categories of people who could book appointments for Covid-19 vaccinations. It had earlier established a six-week window during which only the elderly and vulnerable categories of individuals were permitted to be vaccinated. As per the latest directive though, all residents of the UAE aged 16 and over can now begin booking their appointments for free Covid-19 vaccinations at any of the around 205 designated vaccination centres across the country.
