Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi became the face of the Palestinian struggle in December 2017 when she was arrested by Israeli authorities for confronting soldiers after her cousin was shot and hospitalised. Footage of her dispute with the soldiers went viral, bringing international attention to her arrest and incarceration. A plea bargain in March last year saw her serve eight months in prison, and upon her release in July she was given a hero’s welcome and hailed as a symbol of Palestinian resistance to Israeli military occupation in the West Bank. Now 18-years-old, Tamimi hopes to carry the Palestinian message to the world on the back of the global attention support she has received.
