Over the last 12 months he has overseen stock market reforms including the introduction of short selling and a trading platform for exchange traded funds. Equally progressive moves have also taken place in DIFC including the launch of a fintech accelerator, a $100m fintech fund and an innovation licence for fintech firms. In addition, there has been continued progress on developments to expand the limited capacity of the popular free zone via the launch of the Dhs5bn ($1.36bn) Emirates Towers Business Park in July and continued progress on the Dhs1bn ($272.2m) Gate Avenue as it readies for a 2018 opening.
