He joined Ooredoo when it was still Qtel in 1990, taking on a variety of positions across human resources and internal communications, as well as leading a number of projects. In 2011, he became CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, leading the operator in its home market amid new competition from Vodafone Qatar. By 2012, he had captured over two-thirds of market revenue growth, half of mobile market revenue growth and four-fifths of all new mobile – customers, according to the company. Now, as group CEO of Ooredoo, he oversees a customer base of over 100 million subscribers across the world and serves on the boards of several of its most prominent subsidiaries including Ooredoo Kuwait and Asiacell.
