Al Suwaidi oversees Abu Dhabi’s efforts in oil, gas and petrochemicals under the 15-subsidiary ADNOC Group. His job includes renegotiating long-running contracts with the companies running the emirate’s major oil fields and more broadly to meet its production target of 3.5 million barrels a day by the end of 2017. The firm continued to invest in its infrastructure last year with deals including a $330m contract awarded to China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation to develop the onshore Mender oilfield. However, amid oil price volatility, Al Suwaidi is rumoured to be looking to cut
costs on major projects by as much as 25 per cent in 2016.
