Egypt’s richest businessman Nassef Sawiris added $500m to his $5.2bn fortune this year as the leader of one of the largest nitrogen fertilizer producers in the world, Orascom Construction Industries. Though stock in OCI fell last year, the youngest son of Egyptian magnate Onsi Sawiris also owns 7 per cent of Adidas and 5 per cent of cement giant LafargeHolcim, which both saw gains of 58 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. Nassef replaces his brother Naguib on this year’s power list owing to the latter’s resignation as CEO of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding (OTMT) in December.
