Alshaya’s growing ambitions in the region continue to bear fruit, with the retailer signing a contract with King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia in December to lease a 91,000 metre squared area, and an expectation to open more than 150 new stores in the kingdom throughout 2017. An announcement to open a Four Seasons hotel in Kuwait, as well as other plans for the year ahead will build on what was an impressive 2016 for the executive chairman, who commands 70 international brands including H&M, Victoria’s Secret and Starbucks in the Middle East and beyond, with more than 2,800 stores.
