Last year, ENEC revealed that the Barakah Nuclear Energy plant was 75 per cent complete and is expected to be 100 per cent ready for operation as scheduled in 2020. In June, ENEC launched the operating subsidiary, Nawah Energy Company to operate the four nuclear units at Barakah and, in the same month, announced it had awarded contracts totalling $3bn to 1,400 local companies. The UAE has invested Dhs600bn in its Energy Plan 2050 to boost its clean energy output.
