Barshim is a Qatari high jumper and one of the greatest athletes in the sport’s history. Born in Doha in 1991, he has won multiple Olympic and world championship medals.

He secured a bronze (later upgraded to silver) in London 2012, silver in Rio 2016, and gold in Tokyo 2020, where he shared the title with Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi.

Barshim is a three-time world champion (2017, 2019, 2022) and holds the Asian record of 2.43m, making him the second-highest jumper in history.

His graceful technique and resilience have made him a global icon.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Barshim secured a bronze medal with a jump of 2.34m, making history as the most decorated high jumper in Olympic history with four consecutive medals.
