Al Shorafa plays a key role in shaping Abu Dhabi’s economic and infrastructure landscape. A member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, he currently serves as chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), overseeing major projects spanning transport, real estate, and urban development. He also leads the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC).

He is chairman of Etihad Aviation Group, Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, and the Securities and Commodities Authority.

Additionally, he is vice-chairman of ADGM and sits on the boards of GCAA, Etihad Rail, Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), and Abu Dhabi Transport Company (ADTC). Prior to these roles, he was chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development ADDED and CEO of UEMedical.

He holds an MBA from London Business School and has completed executive programmes at Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan, reflecting his leadership in both public service and business development.
