Alwetaid leads stc Group, which is one of the largest telecom providers in the Arab world. In 2023, its revenues and profit for the year reached SAR72.3bn and SAR13.3bn with an increase of 7.3 per cent and 9.2 per cent respectively. Late last year, stc also acquired a 9.9 per cent stake in Spain’s Telefonica for SAR8.5bn ($2.27bn). The telecoms giant also has more than 47 million subscribers across four countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Alwetaid headed stc Bahrain before he was appointed group CEO in 2021.
