We spoke to Anwar Aman (below, left) and Bhupender ‘Bruce’ Patel (below, right), co-founders and co-CEOs of WOW Resorts, about the project and what we can expect from the developer in the year. Give us an overview of WOW Resorts’ development in RAK and what sets it apart from other luxury resorts in the region. The JW Marriott Residences & JW Marriott Al Marjan Island Resort will be developed on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). The fast-growing island destination will be home to the first residential property by Marriott International in the GCC. The project is designed by Beverly Hills-based architect Tony Ashai with Dubai-based lead consultants architecture design unit, ADU. The stunning vistas, world-class amenities, and excellent design make this project a testament to the extraordinary experiences that Marriott International is dedicated to delivering. How will the property integrate sustainable and eco-friendly practices into its operations and services? WOW Resorts endeavours to align with the burgeoning demand for responsible tourism by integrating a range of sustainable and eco-friendly practices into its operations in line with UAE laws. Embracing energy efficiency, the resort employs technologies such as LED lighting and solar panels, alongside monitoring and reducing overall energy consumption. Water conservation efforts include the installation of water-saving devices and recycling systems. Waste management is a priority, with recycling programs and a reduction in single-use plastics. WOW Resorts sources products and services locally, supporting the regional economy and fostering cultural exchange. The Gulf region is known for its diverse cultural landscape. How will you incorporate local culture and traditions into the project to offer an authentic and immersive experience for guests? Al Marjan Island makes a beautiful natural canvas. Our designs will integrate local architectural styles into the design and décor of its residences while maintaining world-class architectural styles. We believe in creating spaces that transcend expectations, and this collaboration allows us to introduce a new standard of luxury living to the UAE. The development, which has an estimated value of Dhs4.8bn, will be ready for handover by 2026. We will be announcing the sales plan in the next few months to come. The resort will have an exclusive portfolio of 474 residences, featuring a selection of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedrooms and luxurious penthouses, alongside over 264 guest rooms. What can we expect from you in the coming year? In addition to the above project, WOW Resorts is all set to inject another substantial Dhs3bn investment into the UAE in the next few months. We are looking to develop a mix of resorts, and residential and commercial properties.
