Indian companies created 854,234 jobs in Dubai – report

Dubai has offered more than 64,360 business licenses to 246,737 Indian businessmen till date, according to a report issued by the Business Registration & Licensing (BRL) sector at Dubai’s department of economic development(DED).

Commercial activities, totaling 49,900, made up 77.5 per cent of the total active licenses issued, followed by professional activities with 13,037 licences, 1,404 industrial licenses, and 19 tourist licenses, a statement said.

Limited liability companies made up 53,099 of the total Indian businesses licensed, while proprietorship firms totaled 5,951. Civil companies amounted to 3,622 of the licensed businesses while 644 were branches of companies registered in other emirates, and 287 were either limited liability company – single owner (LLC – SO) or a branch of a foreign company, the statement said.

Contracting, electronics, ready-made garments, building, maintenance and cleaning, mechanical and engineering, consulting – management and information, and building materials were a few of the activities of Indian investors across the emirate.

DP World launched “The India-UAE Bridge”, initiative earlier this year, to further attract Indian trade and investments to its Jebel Ali port and Jebel Ali Free Zone(Jafza), according to an earlier report.

With more than $60bn in bilateral trade, and annual growth of around 11 per cent, trade is expected to exceed $100bn by 2020 between the two countries.
