Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi to open campus in UAE

India’s top technical education and research institution – Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi (IIT-Delhi) –  has said it will open the institution’s first international campus in Abu Dhabi in January 2024, the state news agency, WAM reported.

Rangan Banerjee, director of  IIT-Delhi said the institution had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge and India’s Ministry of Education in June during the visit of Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi to the UAE.

IIT-Delhi will work closely with top institutes in UAE

According to WAM, the Director of IIT-Delhi stated the Abu Dhabi branch will provide an added value to the research and innovation sector in the emirate, adding that it will benefit from cooperation opportunities with institutions such as the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, New York University Abu Dhabi, and Technology Innovation Institute to provide integrated programmes and advanced research.

He added that the fields targeted by the institute’s branch in Abu Dhabi in the first phase include computer science, artificial intelligence, energy and sustainability, and healthcare in addition to research programmes.
