Watch: India’s PM Modi lands in UAE, received by Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Abu Dhabi for his official visit to the UAE. He was received by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

Upon being received by Sheikh Khaled at the Abu Dhabi airport, Modi said, “Grateful to Crown Prince HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for welcoming me at the airport today.”

Modi arrived in Abu Dhabi following a two-day visit to France where he joined President Emmanuel Macron for the Bastille Day parade as the Guest of Honour.

PM Modi’s visit

Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. “I look forward to meeting my friend, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” Prime Minister Modi had said in his departure statement at the start of his 2-nation visit.

“Our two countries are engaged across a wide range of sectors such as trade, investments, energy, food security, science and technology, education, fintech, defence, security, and robust people-to-people ties,” he said.

According to ANI, Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, located in Dubai displayed the Indian flag on the eve of the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to the country.

Climate talks, energy security, food security as well as bilateral trade will be on the agenda during the visit.

India and UAE signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2022. The first 12 months of the CEPA (from May 2022 to April 2023), bilateral non-oil trade reached $50.5bn, an increase of 5.8 per cent compared to the same period last year.
